In this hectic world we live in, with kids, pets and careers, who has time for much of anything let alone taking care of ourselves??!! Am I right? As I type this, I am trying to get everything ready to leave for a staycation tomorrow. It will be the first true vacation my husband has had with us in over 3 years, am I excited? You bet!!!! Summer vacation, here we come!!!!!
Along with the fun times, we will have some not so fun times as well. With summer comes bug bites, bee stings, sun burns (even with sunscreen and the best intentions), poison ivy and other illnesses. I always have a stash of essential oils with me to ward off any problems that might come up. I have them in a little case like this.

It fits nicely into my purse and it really does make things so much easier. Just don’t leave it in your freezing cold or boiling hot car. The vials will break if frozen and the heat will speed up the oxidation of your oils, rendering them useless. Some of my “go to” oils are:
Lavender (Lavendula angustofolia) - pain relief, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, deodorant, immune system support, bug bites, bee stings, cuts, scrapes, burns, sleep.
Ginger (Zingiber officinale) - tummy aches, pain, anti-inflammatory, relieve nausea, antioxidant, useful for chronic bronchitis.
Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) - airborne antimicrobial, anti-acne, pain relief, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, helps with allergic symptoms, supports immune system, antimicrobial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory.
Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis) - reduces pain, uplifting, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, digestion, astringent, antiviral, antioxidant, diuretic, immune support, liver support/protector, sedative.
Cedarwood (Juniperus virginiana) - colds or upper respiratory issues, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, astringent, sedative, diuretic (helps with kidney and bladder infections), wound healing.
Elemi (Canarium luzonicum) - skin healing, antibacterial, anti-infection, aid in reducing scars, allergies and pain relief.
Xanthoxylum (Zanthoxylum armatum) - infections, pain, swelling, spasms, allergies, injuries, calming, immune support, upset stomach, menstrual cramps, muscle spasms, allergies, colds and flu.
Carrier Oil - The last bottle I fill with just a carrier oil, I have younger children and will need to dilute the oil more than it already is.
I have found that my go to dilution is 2%, and since I have children, I have the extra bottle of carrier oil should I need to dilute to 1% for my younger ones. 1 drop of essential oil in the 5/8 dram bottle is a 2% dilution when you fill the rest of it with your carrier oil.
Have a fun, happy and healthy summer, should you have any questions, please send me an email melissa@sweetwillowspirit.com and I will answer as quickly as I can. Have a wonderful and blessed day!
Love and light,
Melissa
