Essential Oil Spotlight - 16 Ways Rose Can Help You!

Rose Absolute (Rosa x damascena) is a flower oil, that is solvent extracted, with a middle-base note. Rose has a lovely rich, sweet, honey-type rose scent. Since the petals of the rose are so delicate it is harder to extract the oils. It typically is done by using hexane or benzene or possibly another solvent. Buying from a reputable company is EXTREMELY important. Rose is expensive and you want to make sure you have little to no solvent left in the finished product.

In my blog titled The Power of Essential Oils, I talk about how much raw product is needed to produce Rose essential oil. Rose (Rosa damascena)– 1 gallon (3.7kg) of rose essential oil requires roughly 8.3 tons of rose petals. One gallon may produce only 757 of the 5 ml bottles, making this one of the most expensive essential oils you can buy.

On the wikipedia.com website, "A rose is a woody perennial flowering plant of the genus Rosa, in the family Rosaceae, or the flower it bears. There are over a hundred species..."

According to pubmed.com, in a study dated February 4, 2009, Relaxing effect of rose oil on humans, "At the emotional level, subjects in the rose oil group rated themselves as more calm, more relaxed and less alert than subjects in the control group. These findings are likely to represent a relaxing effect of the rose oil and provide some evidence for the use of rose oil in aromatherapy, such as causing relief of depression and stress in humans."

In another pubmed.com study dated May - June 2017 called Therapeutic efficacy of rose oil: A comprehensive review of clinical evidence, "In this study, it was observed that rose oil had physiological and psychological relaxation, analgesic and anti-anxiety effects."

As you can see, it's great for calming and relaxing, but there are so many more benefits.
