Sweet marjoram (Origanum majorana) is a leaf oil, that is steam distilled, with a middle note. Marjoram has a crisp, fresh, medicinal, sweet, herbal scent. In herbal form and used in cooking, it has a slight citrus and piney flavor.

On the wikipedia.com website, "Marjoram is indigenous to Cyprus and southern Turkey, and was known to the Greeks and Romans as a symbol of happiness."

According to US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health, in an article dated May 26, 2016, titled, Sweet Marjoram, "sweet marjoram has been used for variety of diseases in traditional and folklore medicines, including gastrointestinal, ocular, nasopharyngeal, respiratory, cardiac, rheumatologic, and neurological disorders. It has been used for Antimicrobial, antiseptic, antidote, carminative, antitussive and used for gastrointestinal disorder, head cool, sniffle, vision performance, otitis, melancholia accompanied by flatulence, unilateral facial paralysis, headache, epilepsy, cataract, weakness of sight, ear pain, dyspnea, cardiac pain, dysrhythmia, cramp, obstruction of large intestine, emmenagogue, strangury, dropsy, spondilolysthesis, groin pain, back pain, fatigue, freckle, migraine and much more.
